Social Summary
Detroit Yacht Club members vary greatly in age, background and interests. A wide range of fun activities reflect the diversity of the DYC.
The DYC open eleven months a year and offers several events per week. Special traditional events occur each month in addition to frequent specials like ethnic food buffets in the grill and weekend live music in the bar or on the patio.
January – February
The biggest event of the year: a black tie Officers Ball is held in January

March – April
Easter Eggstravaganza! Saturday, March 27, 2010
11:00am - A Free Event
Bring your basket and meet us in the Grill to start the Easter Egg Hunt.
Following the Egg Hunt, the Egg Drop Challenge will begin.
Please be on Time. This event goes very fast. Make your Reservation in the Grill for Lunch.
For Easter we have a delicious Easter Buffet and a petting zoo for the children.
May – June 
We call it “The Vice Commodore’s Ball” and it is a day for members to fix up and clean up the Club and plant flowers to get the Club looking great for the summer.

Memorial Day has been celebrated at the DYC for as long as it has been a National Holiday.

Fathers Day is recognized with an antique boat and car show on the grounds.
July – August
It’s the middle of summer and the emphasis is on the water and fun in the pool and on the docks.

Gold Cup hydroplace races just off the end of our docks are an event which draws the largest crowd of the year to the Club.
Venetian Week gets the boats in our harbor decorated with lights for a festive mood. Docks compete for the best decorations.
September – October 
For those not going to Ann Arbor or East Lansing; a tailgate party at the Club.
Halloween is for kids and also for adults.
November – December The Clubhouse is decorated and lit in Holiday splendor. Members devote a Saturday morning to do the decorating. Several Holiday parties and special dinners fill the month.
